Communities Reflect on Past Actions and Prepare for New Activities
Porto Central has resumed the activities of the Sustainability Groups (SGs) under the Environmental Education Program (PEA) in Presidente Kennedy, Marataízes, and São Francisco de Itabapoana. Four meetings were held in December, with approximately 60 participants from communities in the project's Direct Influence Area (DIA).
During the meetings, participants reflected on previous actions and discussed environmental issues and local workforce recruitment. They also shared suggestions for future PEA activities, including schedule adjustments, days, and locations.
he Sustainability Groups (SGs) play a vital role as a bridge between Porto Central and the local communities. These groups ensure that socio-environmental initiatives are developed collaboratively.
The meetings of the Sustainability Groups are part of one of the action lines of Porto Central's Environmental Education Program, as required by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama). The main objective is to foster environmental awareness and educate communities and workers on best sustainability practices.
Porto Central's team also used the meetings to explain the registration process for workers and suppliers, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and ongoing dialogue with local communities.
