  • Heritage education meeting engages school administrators in Marataízes

Around 50 administrators from the Municipal Department of Education of Marataízes participated in a Heritage Education meeting last Tuesday (June 18), promoted by Porto Central. The event, held in the department’s auditorium, featured a lecture by archaeologist Renata Góes, who provided insights into the municipality's tangible and intangible heritage and highlighted the importance of preserving these assets.

In the next phase, these activities will be extended to the municipal school system's 5th—and 9th-grade students, expanding the initiatives to reach younger generations. In addition to Marataízes, the municipalities of Presidente Kennedy (ES) and Barra do Itabapoana (RJ), which are within the project's direct area of influence, will also host educational activities.

These actions are part of the Heritage Education Program (PEP), one of the environmental requirements established by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) for the construction of Porto Central. The program aims to promote knowledge about local history, strengthen community identity, and encourage the preservation of cultural heritage in the region.
