  • Energia renovável por fonte eólica offshore na região litoral do Porto Central

At the end of October 2021, Porto Central signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Votu Winds, a company that is developing a complex of offshore wind farms in the southern coastal region of the State of Espírito Santo, near the Municipalities of Itapemirim, Marataízes and Presidente Kennedy.

The location of the Votu Winds project is considered strategic as it brings together a region that, in addition to the outstanding intensity and quality of winds, has the port infrastructure of Porto Central for logistical support for its activities. The proximity of the country's economic and industrial centers further highlights the strategic importance of this project.

The offshore wind complex proposed by Votu Winds includes three wind farms, each park consisting of 48 wind turbines with a capacity of 10 MW, each developing a total installed capacity of 1,440 MW. The objective is for the energy generated by the wind turbines to be made available in the National Interconnected System, serving consumers in Porto Central itself, as well as throughout Brazil. Part of the energy generation will be used to produce green hydrogen and ammonia, fuels with a key role in the transition to a carbon neutral world.

The partnership also covers the development in Porto Central of a support base for the construction and maintenance of the Votu Winds complex, as well as other wind farms in the region.

The feasibility and synergy studies being conducted by the two Companies aim to consolidate the Green Energy Hub in the southern region of the State of Espírito Santo, contributing decisively to a more sustainable future.

About Porto Central
Covering more than 20 million square meters, Porto Central will serve as one of Brazil's newest deep-water industrial port complexes, with a draft of 25 meters and capable of receiving the largest ships in the world. The port will handle various types of cargo, such as oil and gas, energy, offshore support, grains, fertilizers, ores, containers, general cargo, among others. The first phase of the port will consolidate the beginning of the development of the Porto Central Energy Hub, which includes the movement of crude oil, import and distribution of petroleum products and receipt of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The strategic location of the port in a region with high potential for generating renewable energy allows the production of hydrogen and green ammonia on a large scale in Porto Central to serve the national and international market.
