Porto Central’s priority is hiring local labor and suppliers. This especially includes people and companies in the Area of ​​Direct Influence (AID), in the municipalities of Marataízes (ES), Presidente Kennedy (ES) and São Francisco do Itabapoana (RJ), and in the Area of ​​Indirect Influence (AII), in municipalities of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (ES), Itapemirim (ES) and Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). One of the activities that has been developed by Porto Central with partners, organized in the Labor Management Committee (CGMD) and the Regional Development Management Committee (CGDR), is the survey of these professionals and companies in the region, respectively.

We strongly advise against workers from other regions moving in search of a job in Porto Central. This is not our preferred profile for hiring, which will occur through its Professional Training and Labor Mobilization and Demobilization Programs.

What will the recruitment process be like for professionals who will work on the construction?

Local hiring is a priority for Porto Central, which is why we will widely publicize the recruitment and hiring processes, especially in the port’s Areas of Influence.

Hiring will take place through its Professional Training Programs (PCP) and Labor Mobilization and Demobilization (PMD).

How will people be trained for labor?

Worker training is part of the Professional Training Program. Together with the entrepreneur, several municipal departments, city halls and other institutions, in addition to the construction companies themselves, will carry out successive periods of publicity, selection and indication of these workers, who will undergo prior training for use in companies providing services to the port. Specific training is required, which will be provided directly by the contracted companies.

 

The entire training flow will be informed in advance by the Social Communication Program and will be aimed at the local and regional workforce.

What types of jobs will the port offer for young people? Will there be opportunities for professional growth and advancement?

When Porto Central begins its hiring process, it will comply with current laws regarding youth work, such as the Young Apprenticeship. Internally, a professional growth policy will be created.

When will a job opening open at Porto Central?

For Phase 1, with works scheduled to begin in 2024, there is an estimate at the peak of works of 1,295 workers. The priority is to hire local labor, that is, residents of the municipalities in the project’s Area of ​​Influence.

 

The works in this stage are basically transportation of rocks, civil works in the buildings and utilities of the construction site, precast elements factory, dredging for a 26-kilometer channel, turning basin, berth areas, south breakwater and pier.

What type of work will you have in Porto Central?

In the works of Phase 1, the main functions planned, observing the current labor histogram, are for: Engineers; Watchmen; Mechanics; Masters of Construction; Electricians; Servants; Firemen; Assemblers; Bricklayers; Welders; Supervisors; Carpenters; Truck Drivers; Shipowners; Helpers; Environmental Analysts; Machine operator; Biologists; Environmental Technicians; IT technicians; Occupational Safety Technicians; Administrative assistant; Storekeeper.

 

These vacancies may be changed depending on the entry of new companies providing services to Porto Central.

What procedures are adopted for registering companies on the list of product/service suppliers?

Hiring local suppliers is a priority for Porto Central, which is why we will widely publicize the selection and hiring processes, especially in the port’s Areas of Influence.

If your company is based in the municipalities of Presidente Kennedy (ES), Marataízes (ES), São Francisco de Itabapoana (RJ), Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (ES), Itapemirim (ES) or Campos (RJ) and surrounding areas, you can also be part of the Supplier Catalog, initiative by one of the three social participation forums created based on four environmental programs approved by Ibama, in this case by the Regional Development Management Committee (CGDR), implemented in fulfillment of obligations under the Regional Development Support Program (PARD). This is an online publication with the aim of helping to promote companies based in the Porto Central Area of ​​Influence and enable future business to be carried out, generating jobs and income for the states involved.

 

The initiative is led by CGDR, with the support and coordination of Porto Central and participating institutions.

Is there any specific program to buy products from local producers?

There is still no specific program to buy from local producers. Business-related matters are dealt within the Regional Development Management Committee (CGDR). Several municipal departments and institutions linked to agriculture and fishing are part of the Social Participation Forums and will be able to make various contributions in this regard.

Where will Porto Central workers be located?

Porto Central is committed to prioritizing the hiring of up to 70% of local labor. Therefore, these workers would return to their homes, as there would be transport for their home-port-home journeys. In cases of need for external labor, expected at a maximum of 30%, there is already a mapping of inns and vacant residences around the project, capable of resolving this issue, with regard to the installation now licensed, Phase 1.

Will the port offer training programs or partnerships with educational institutions to train young people? Will there be scholarships or internship programs available?

Porto Central already has a partnership with an educational institution to improve its workers. This partnership may be expanded, depending on demand, especially regarding the offer of professional internship vacancies.
