Modular refinery

Espírito Santo Refinery in Porto Central

The Espírito Santo Refinery (RefinES) is being developed, in partnership with the Oil Group Refineries and EnP Energy Platform, to be deployed in the Porto Central area, in the municipality of Presidente Kennedy, in the extreme south of the state of Espírito Santo.

In November 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Porto Central, Oil Group and EnP Energy Platform for the development of this project.

The port infrastructure being developed by Porto Central and its strategic location close to the pre-salt oil & gas fields are determining factors for installing this project in this location.

The plant will have the capacity to process Brazilian offshore oil, with 29° API, to produce gasoline, diesel oil, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and MGO (marine gasoil), meeting the demand of the Espírito Santo market.

The modular refinery will have the capacity to process 50,000 barrels per day, and the project will be implemented in two phases, the first with the capacity to process 30,000 barrels per day and the second with a capacity of 20,000 barrels per day. This project has an estimated investment of US$ 640 million (US$ 350 million in phase 1 and US$ 290 million in phase 2).

The expectation is that RefinES will start operating in 2-3 years after the approval of the last phase of the studies, when they should move on to the implementation (contracting, construction and assembly) and operation phases.
