ZPE

The Exporting Processing Zone (hereinafter “ZPE”, in its Brazilian initials) is a free trade zone dedicated for the installation of companies focused on the production of goods and services for exports, with the purpose to attract business and promote socioeconomic development of a particular region.

Porto Central has designed in its Masterplan the reservation of a specific area for the implementation of an Export Processing Zone, with the objective of attracting business and promoting export operations. Companies that are authorized to operate in the ZPE of Porto Central will be able to enjoy, for up to 20 years (extendable), the following benefits:

• Suspension of import tax requirement - II, tax on industrialized products - IPI, AFRMM, PIS/COFINS/PASEP and COFINS/PIS/PASEP Imports on imports or on acquisitions in the domestic market of machinery, apparatus, instruments and equipment;
• Suspension of import tax requirement - II, tax on industrialized products - IPI, AFRMM, PIS/COFINS/PASEP and COFINS/PIS/PASEP Importation of raw materials, intermediate products and packaging materials that will be imported or purchased used fully in the production process of the final product to be exported (to be converted into a 0% rate upon export);
• Reduction to 0 (zero) of the PIS/PASEP and COFINS rates levied on the importation or acquisition of services in the domestic market by a company authorized to operate in the ZPE;
• Simplified export and import procedures.

In addition, the ZPE of Porto Central will bring competitive advantages as it is located in the retroarea of a world-class port complex, facilitating the export and import of goods and cargoes through its port terminals, with extensive logistical access to road and rail infrastructure (in future), with availability of basic infrastructure and within an excellent investment environment.
